Law enforcement’s role relies upon citizens’ respect and trust throughout the community, which can be damaged when law enforcement officers do not uphold the oath to protect and serve their communities in a lawful way.
My message to the citizens of Sedgwick County is that we are listening and are dedicated to building relationships that honor the dignity of all citizens.
To ensure safety of all citizens, a commitment to public service is only the beginning. We must value accountability and diversity, which includes working cooperatively with community and government partners and by creating a safe environment for all citizens built on trust.

PROTECT THE RIGHTS AND SAFETY OF CITIZENS
Our Patrol Division has jurisdiction within all 1,008 square miles of Sedgwick County, which includes responding to calls within unincorporated areas and assisting other law enforcement agencies. Crime and the fear of crime must be reduced.

SAFETY OF DETENTION FACILITY INMATES AND STAFF
Our goal is to consistently provide humane treatment to our inmates, who are housed in a pre-trial housing facility, often under challenging circumstances. And we must ensure the safety of our staff -- over 300 men and women who work 24/7 to ensure the safety of the public, inmates and staff.
